EASY TCP/IP TWI board

This is the Easy TCP/IP TWI board from http://www.mcselec.com/. Running BASCOM-AVR. Mark Alberts from MCSELEC wrote a special library to work with the WIZNET IIM7010A module. In a few minutes you have a webserver and an email-client running. Nice board. I replaced the Atmega88 or Atmega32 with an Atmega644 to get more SRAM and Flash, and connected a SD-card to it. Photo’s will follow…. Soon, next to the embedded ethernet device with NUT/OS http://mws.benshobbycorner.nl/ there will also be a Bascom-AVR version running.

SDRVL-Add-on for WebCat…

Thursday, December 28th, 2006

Nice to have a few days off with X-Mas. Spend a lot of time programming the WebCat and SDRVL-Add-on in Bascom-AVR. Got the video running within minutes. The DS1337 RTC-chip has taken me some more time. I had to synchronize first the DS1337 RTC with the Network Time Protocol. To get AVR-DOS running for the SD-card was also not that difficult. After initializing the filesystem the SD-card was seen. Had to synchronize the AVR-DOS time/date with the DS1337. After some more hours working I got my first INDEX.HTM file from the SD-card.

The complete code:  WebCat_SDRVL.bas

SDRVL stands for: SD-Card, RTC Real Time clock DS1337, Video (composite) and LCD.

Been busy

Sunday, December 24th, 2006

Today have been working on the Bascom-AVR-code for the SDRVL-Add-on for the WebCat. Video and LCD is working. SD-Card is working with AVR-DOS 5.5. Have been working on the RTC DS1337 code to synchronize the Network Time with this Real Time Chip. This chip should be compatible with the PCF8583 but I see some differences.

Got a few days extra off to get things working….

Composite videoscreen

Composite videoscreen

Well, here it is while testing on a STK500 development board. 40 characters by 24 lines. Complete terminal software, including the characterset, horizontal/vertical, 50 and 60 Hertz, fits right in an Atmega8. The same software, written by San Bergmans of www.sbprojects.com can be found on the A-One Apple I Replica.

New WebCat add-on

Wednesday, December 20th, 2006

Today got two new SD-RTC-Video-LCD-add-on’s for the WebCat. The ‘old’ one is already running for a month on the embedded webserver on my desk. But because I like to get one working with Bascom-AVR and AVR-DOS I decided to get me two new ones.

SD-RTC-LCD-Video-add-on

New on this add-on is the composite video. A SMD Atmega8 which acts as a complete terminal. So every line that is send to the LCD can also be displayed on a composite videoscreen. Source-code will be available soon. Will publish a picture of the videoscreen tomorrow.

Working on the Drill-assistente

Drill-assistente

Have been working on the Drill-assistente. The Drill-assistente is some kind of terminal to feed the Excellon-file to the Drill-machine we have build. There are some extra’s. With some extra buttons it is possible to mount the PCB, the table will come to the front so you can easy put the PCB on it. Furthermore you can switch on a laser and calibrate the X=0 / Y=0 point. Single steppermotorsteps for X and Y can be done, but also 10 or 100 steps at once. On the right the terminal screen while sending Excellon-lines to the machine. And in the middle a big ABORT-button.

The source is written in Visual Basic 6.0. The terminal-screen is a Rich Text Format. Bought a book from Data Becker, Easy Computing Guide Visual Basic 6 and got 30% of the code for the terminal from this book.

Circuit Cellars AVR Contest

Lucky again. In 2004 together with Hugh Duff got an Distinctive Excellence Award for our entry in the Circuit Cellar AVR 2004 Design Contest. With the AVR Ethernet I/O board.

And this year… again. This time with two friends here in Tilburg, Netherlands. We have build a State of the Art Drill Machine.

Embedded Server 8 x 10 cm…

Embedded Ethernet

Running on my desk at home, an embedded ethernet board. It is the WebCat from www.achatz.nl with on top a new add-on, a SD-RTC board. This is still a prototype. The board is online and if you browse to it, you can leave a message for me on the attached display. The small server is running Nut/OS 4.2.1, the hardware is Ethernut compatible ( www.ethernut.de ). There are several boards running, if you have a look at it you will find a small list of links to other devices.
